2018 VSBA Annual Convention

Frederick County Public Schools launched the FCPS 101 Community Engagement Program in 2018 in an effort to develop a group of advocates to help counteract a growing number of individuals/groups using disinformation in an attempt to devalue public education and question many of the capital projects and initiatives being undertaken by the School Board. The program, which received a 2018 Golden Achievement Award from National School Public Relations Association, led to parents and other community leaders coming together to advocate on behalf of the school division. In addition to providing an overview of FCPS 101, the presenters will offer practical steps Board members and school staff can use to quickly and effectively begin their own community engagement program.
