New Kent County Public Schools (NKCPS) has redefined the skills and knowledge of a college, career, and life ready graduate. Students will show mastery by demonstrating the elements of our Portrait of a Graduate. NKCPS has built a framework and delivery models outlining what, when, how, and where competencies are embedded into K-12 curriculum. Students are equipped to make informed career decisions and to apply 21st century skills for increased employability. We will be discussing the process to create and implement a common framework supported by our school community.


Dr. Byron Bishop

Executive Director of Curriculum & Instruction, New Kent County Public Schools
Byron is the Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction for New Kent County Public Schools. He has 22 years of experience in education and currently supports the College, Career, & Life Readiness initiative.

Dr. David Myers

Superintendent, New Kent County Public Schools
Dave is entering his 5th year as the Superintendent of New Kent County Public Schools. Dave has had diverse experiences leading high schools and school divisions in suburban, urban, and rural communities over the past 23 years.

Peggy Spiak
